I am 17 years and pregnant. Would that create any legal problems for me?

If you are less than 18 years of age, then your parents or legal guardian has to sign the consent on your behalf and be ready to accept any complication arising out of the procedure. This   is a legal requirement for teenage pregnancy and the clinics would not proceed with your treatment otherwise.

All young women less than 18 years of age are therefore strongly advised to involve their parents or supportive legal guardian. You still have a right to confidentiality like anyone else and apart from your parents or legal guardian, no one else needs to know about it. If this pregnancy was a result of rape, sexual abuse or harm, it is best to also involve the police as this will go a long way in helping you punish the culprits. You must inform your doctor frankly so she can take the necessary action. The sample from pregnancy tissues could also be saved for a possible future DNA testing for paternity settlement issues.
