If there were no problems with your abortion, then it is relatively safe in the long term. It does not harm your future pregnancy nor will it increase the chances of complication in your future pregnancies. If there were complications like infection or injury to the uterus during the abortion procedure, you could experience difficulty in conceiving again. There could be a slightly higher risk of a preterm labour if the cervix had been injured during abortion.
Most women are emotionally rather than physically more traumatized after an abortion and continue to a range of emotion like sadness, guilty or regret many years after an emotion also. To avoid these problems it is best to undergo an abortion only when you are totally ready for it. Ask for additional counselling from your healthcare team if you need.
